Some VAs have a thing about them that makes it obvious who they are, (like with Yuri Lowenthal, as soon as he starts screaming I go, "Oh, so Yuri's his actor! I was just watching Otogi Zoshi, when I heard his voice. Not Only does he play BArt (Vandread) He has played parts and narrated Bleach. Some characters in Juuni Kokki/ The Twelve Kingdoms. I love how he can change his tone from a sort of high lighthearted youthful voice to a deep and series one! Enjoyed his work in Naruto, Digimon, Lupin (Count Cagliostro in particular) and Fist of the North Star. Not forgetting Gundam's Anavel Gato and Bobobo-Bo Bo-bobo's Don Patch.A young girl named Dorothy has gone to live with her grandparents on their small farm.
Also I think its really cool he's starting to step up as an ADR director, I loved what he did with Blood Lad and it's cool he's currently doing Durarara!! It's great hearing him back as Takashi Nasujima again in Durarara!! I also really love his take on Ramba Ral in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.
He's perfect for a younger yet still gruff version of the character. My Top 10 Favorite Roles of Kirk Thornton 1) Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog) 2) Klein/Ryotaro Tsobi (Sword Art Online) 3) Kisame Hoshigaki (Naruto) 4) Mifune (Naruto Shippudden) 5) Fukasaku (Naruto Shippudden) 6) Shiro Fujimoto (Blue Exorcist) 7) Orobot (Sonic the Hedgehog) 8) Gabumon/Gurumon (Digimon) 9) One-Tail Shukaku (Naruto) 10) Don Patch (Bobobo-bobo-bobo)I just watched a Q&A panel he did at Anime Boston in 2012, (on Youtube.
I hope he gets the chance to yell "This is No Zaku Boy, No Zaku! I just searched Kirk thornton and the first of a 5-part series came up) in which he shared something rather interesting I think Bobobo fans will find amusing.
Apparently, most of the dialogue in Bobobo got some improv by the actors, a thing usually frowned upon in dubbing, but they were allowed just about complete reign over what their characters said.
Which makes sense considering the show wouldn't have made more or less sense either way.
